Lois (Averyheart) Foote was a woman of many names, each reflecting a unique facet of her loving personality. Her father called her “Fat,” her son affectionately called her “Old Lady,” and to some of her sisters, she was known as “Roe Roe.” Whatever the nickname, it was always spoken with love.
Lois was born on February 18, 1958, in Cleveland, Ohio, to A.D. Averyheart and Dorothy (Dumas) Averyheart. She was the fourth of seven children in this blessed union.
A devoted and exemplary mother, Lois cherished her two children, William and Tareen, and adored her four grandchildren: Iysha, Akayla, Dallas, and Briana. Her family was the center of her world, and her love for them was immeasurable.
Lois was educated in Cleveland Public Schools and graduated from John Hay High School. Shortly after, she began a dedicated career at University Hospitals, where she worked until her retirement in 2014.
On the morning of Sunday, January 12, 2025, Lois departed this life, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. Her passing has left our hearts forever broken.
She is survived by her mother, Dorothy (Averyheart) Glover; her son, William (Angela) Johnson; her beloved grandchildren, Iysha, Akayla, Dallas, and Briana; her sisters, Palice (David), Rhonda, and Robin (Steve); and her brothers, Shun and Roy. Lois was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Foote; her sisters, Deniece and Carla; and her brother, Lloyd. She is also mourned by a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
No words can fully express how much we will miss Lois. Every moment of our lives was touched by her presence. We will continue to think of her in silence and speak her name—Roe Roe, Fat, Old Lady, Lois—in our conversations, cherishing her memory until our own final days.
We will love and miss you forever.
