On September 14, 1941, God blessed the late Sam Congress Sr. and Virginia C. Evans, with their seventh child, Lorena Congress.
She accepted Christ at a young age, and joined the New Hope Baptist Church, under the pastorage of the late Rev. G.L. Nickels, in Demopolis, Alabama. Until her passing she was a faithful member of Sacrificial Missionary Baptist Church, where Dr. George L. Parks, Sr. was her Pastor.
She was educated in the Demopolis City School System.
On August 23, 1960 she married her soulmate, the late James Killings, Sr. To this union three children were born. One of which, Anthony Dwain, preceded them in death.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 27 years, James Killings, Sr., her son, Anthony D. Killings, her parents: Sam Congress, Sr. and Virginia C. Evans. Seven siblings: Henry Congress, Mamie C. Clayton, Deotha C. Bruno, Sam Congress, Jr., Woody Congress, Allen Congress and Charlie Triggs Congress.
On Tuesday, July 18, 2023, Lorena traded time for eternity.
She leaves to cherish her beautiful memory, her loving and devoted children; a son, James Aaron Killings, and her daughter, Aundra Jennett Killings, both of Cleveland, OH, A Grand-daughter that she adored: Trasci S. Lockhart. Her Great Grandson: Tion R. Gabriel, who was the Apple of her eye.
One Sister, Mary Congress of Cleveland, Ohio. Five Sisters-In-law: Bertha (Ronnie) Moore, Octavia (Sanders) Williams, Dorothy Tate-Beville, Loretta Congress and Patty Congress. Three brothers-In-law: John (Cheryl) Killings, Aaron (Lillian) Killings, and Jerry (Leah) Killings.
And a host of nieces and nephews, three who were very devoted: William (Annie) Congress, Geraldine (Bob) Laster and Rev. Mitchell Congress; Other relatives and friends.
