Louis Douglas Callahan, 83, passed away on June 10, 2026, at South Pointe Hospital. He was born on April 3, 1943, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Samuel Otis Callahan and Myra Ophelia Callahan.
In his younger years, Louis was introduced to faith by his mother, who faithfully took him to church. The family attended Friendship Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. James Stallworth.
Louis graduated from John Adams High School and went on to work for many years at Ford Motor Company, where he dedicated himself to his career until his retirement in 2013. In his early twenties, he married the love of his life, the late Lois Lola Gosha. From their union, they were blessed with a son, Louis Douglas Callahan Jr.
Louis had a passion for sports, especially football and basketball. He was a devoted fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Cleveland Cavaliers and enjoyed following his favorite teams throughout the years.
Louis lived life on his own terms, a quality that helped shape the unique and independent man he became. He was known for his free spirit, his individuality, and the lasting impression he left on those who knew him. The memories he created will be cherished forever, and his family will carry forward the lessons, love, and strength he shared throughout his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Otis and Myra Ophelia Callahan; his three brothers, Samuel Callahan Jr., Larry Callahan, and Anthony Callahan; and his sister, Valerie Reed, and her husband, Jimmy Reed.
Louis is remembered by his beloved son, Louis Douglas Callahan Jr.; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
