Louise Smith, beloved wife of Turner Smith Jr. expired on November 30, 2024. Louise was born on March 3, 1934 to the parents of the late Rosie and Henry Wagstaff in Newbern Alabama. Her family moved to Cleveland in 1947. Here she settled in and joined Gethsemanie Baptist Church in 1948. She enjoyed school and eventually graduated from East Tech high in 1953. She married Turner Smith Junior in 1958 and into the union three children were born Ronald, Randy and Roselyn.
Louise was employed at University Hospital for 15 years and was one of the first black ward secretaries. Eventually, she paused her work career and became a tremendous homemaker where she honed her skills at gardening and creating extraordinary meals in the kitchen. She eventually re-entered the workforce and became an assistant teacher at Steppingstone nursery school in Cleveland Heights.
In 1987 she joined Mount Sinai Baptist Church and in 2000 she joined Church Of The Masters and was a member up until her last day. She worked faithfully and was the head of the usher board for a period of time and she also managed the fellowship ministry and co-founded a ministry called SAM with her husband Turner. This ministry provided home cooked meals for those who were not able to prepare meals for themselves.
Louise was predeceased by her husband Turner Smith Jr., May 21, 2024 and son, Ronald Smith who died June 20, 2000. She is survived by her son Randy, Michelle (wife), her daughter Roselyn, grandchildren Whitney Smith, Dominique Smith, Chelsea Henderson, Malik Smith and Tyreke Smith and great grandchildren, Demaria Smith, Naomi Smith, Gabriel Henderson, Isabella Henderson, Legacy Smith and Malik Smith Jr, Sister Beatrice Dunn and brothers Christopher and Jody Wagstaff, nephews Ricky Sutton, Darrell Sutton, Larry (Hector) Smith, nieces Linda Morrow, Lajuana Smith and a host of cousins.
