On Monday, December 30, 2019, Lucille Lewis went home to be with the Lord at the age of 89, after a long illness. She was born in Osceola, Arkansas in 1930 to the late Felix and Mariah Ware. She was married to Mr. Monroe Lewis for 41 years and seven children were born to this union. She lived in the Barberton community for 64 years. She worked at Wadsworth Health Care Nursing home for 26 years before retiring. She was a member of the United Baptist Church. Lucille enjoyed celebrating her birthday with her family and friends, going to church, and in her younger years, “let’s not forget a good old game of Pitty Pat and bingo.”
She was preceded in death by her parents Felix Ware and Mariah Taylor; husband, Monroe Lewis; brothers; sisters; and grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons Harry Ware of Akron, Robert Lewis of Barberton, Ronnie Lewis (Rachel) of Bedford Heights, Farley Lewis, Leaon Lewis (Jennifer) and Glen Lewis of Akron; daughters, Darlene Lewis (Isis) Of Ravenna, Deatra Chapman of Streetsboro; sister, Clara Bingham of Akron; brother, James Jackson of Copley, William Taylor of Michigan; stepbrothers and sisters in Memphis and Chicago; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
