Lucretia Wesley was born to Burnis and Naomi Hairston on July 10, 1933. She entered eternal rest on April 9, 2026, after 92 beautiful years of life. A lifelong Cleveland, Ohio, native, Lucretia was educated in the Cleveland Public Schools, where she earned her GED in 1975.
A woman who loved deeply, lived fully, and walked faithfully with God. Known to never meet a stranger, Lucretia had a gift for people. Her warm and outgoing spirit filled every room she entered, and those who crossed her path rarely left without feeling seen and loved. Whether she was dressed impeccably, because she was always a sharp dresser, or planning her next adventure, Lucretia approached life with joy and intention.
She was a devoted member of Corinthian Baptist Church, under the pastorship of Rev. Roosevelt Brown. She later became a member of Holy Trinity Baptist Church, where her faith was a cornerstone of her life. Her love for God was evident in the way she loved others generously, without condition, and with open arms. She was also a proud and dedicated member of Alcoholics Anonymous, a testament to her courage, commitment to living well, and desire to serve others.
Lucretia leaves to celebrate her life and legacy: her children, Roy Williams Jr., Renee (Williams) Thomas, Gloria Alexander (Darren), and Sean Wesley. Her siblings, Burnes Hairston, Jr., and Phosia Bell (Willard); Seven grandchildren, Nichelle Wells (Paul), Dr. Andrett Jackson (Cary), Farisha Davis, Precious Wesley, Tisha Wesley, and Rashad Williams; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever carry her love with them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, siblings, Liz, Costamo, Leslie, Thomas, Margie, and Leroy, son William Wesley, and grandson Andrew L. Thomas III.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” Matthew 25:2
