In Loving Memory of Lucy Cole
August 20, 1929 – April 16, 2025
Today, we celebrate the extraordinary life and enduring legacy of Lucy Cole-mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, auntie, cousin, and friend. A woman of quiet strength, boundless love, and unwavering grace. Born on August 20, 1929, in Anniston, Alabama, Lucy was the third child of six children born to Jessie and Annie Vincent.
On April 16, 2025, at the age of 95, she peacefully transitioned from this life, surrounded by her loving children, a reflection of the deep love and devotion she poured into her family throughout her life.
Lucy came to know the Lord at an early age and was raised in a deeply spiritual home that valued faith, family, and service. She was a faithful member of the Word Church, where her presence reflected her sincere devotion and love for God.
Her life was full of purpose. Lucy faithfully worked alongside her husband in their family business with diligence and pride, always giving her best in everything she did. Lucy had a natural elegance, she loved to dress up, take care of herself by walking and exercising, and carried herself with poise. She believed in natural beauty and wellness, and her radiant spirit always shined through.
She always found pleasure in life simple things like cooking, cleaning, reading her Bible daily, and keeping her home a place of peace. She especially enjoyed watching The View, American Idol, The Voice, CNN News, and cheering for her favorite team, the Cleveland Cavaliers.
More than anything, Lucy was a nurturer. Her home was filled with warmth, understanding, and unconditional love. She believed in doing good quietly, never seeking recognition, but always choosing love, kindness, and service.
She was not only a mother to her own children, but also to those whom she loved deeply as her own. Malinda, Dorothy, Schwanda, and Stevie. were among the many she embraced with a mother’s heart. Her ability to love without limits was one of her most beautiful gifts.
Lucy was preceded in death by her loving husband, A.C Cole, her sons Felix and Bradley, her parents Jessie and Annie Vincent, and her siblings Jessie, Ervin, and William.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her devoted children:
Alphonso Ervin (wife Gloria) Janetta (husband Terry) Kimberly (husband Simon).
Her beloved grandchildren: Sharde Tamara, Edward Jr., Nancy, Alphonso Jr., Kiana, Ervin, Tyshae, Markila, Tremaine, Vonnie, Armand, Taushia, Rodney, Andrew, Sylvia, Dawn, Greg, and Shonte.
Her cherished great-grandchildren: Nehemiah, Chaz Jr., Neveah, Queen, Hailey, Mason, Nova, and Kamari.
She is also survived by her siblings Ed and Elizabeth, along with a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends whose lives were blessed by her love and presence.
Our mother was the best of everything to us, a rare and radiant soul whose strength, wisdom, and unconditional love shaped generations. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the wisdom she shared, and the deep, enduring love she gave so freely. Our family was so blessed to have a Mother like ours. We truly thank God for giving us all a tremendous gift, our Mother. She will always be, the heart of our family.
She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. When she speaks, her words are wise, and she gives instructions with kindness. She carefully watches everything in her household and suffers nothing from laziness. Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her: There are many virtuous and capable women in the world but you surpass them all!
