Mr. Ludie Marsh Sr. was born in Yantley, Alabama on June 15, 1948, to the late Epp Marsh, Sr. and Gertrude (Green) Marsh; he was the youngest of eleven children. He went to rest with his Heavenly Father on Monday, April 15, 2024, peacefully at his home in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.
Ludie was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist church in Lisman, AL, and attended schools in Yantley, AL where he drove the school bus while he was a student in high school. After graduating high school, he relocated to Cleveland, Ohio where his sisters and brothers resided, and worked a summer job at McDonalds. He then began employment with Myer Snow Plow, before taking a position at Ford Motor Company where he remained until his early retirement. He was married to Brenda J. Edwards, and from their union; they had two children, Melinda and Ludie Marsh Jr.
Ludie was a very determined and hardworking man who loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren deeply. He was very proud of his children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. He traveled throughout the United States and Overseas and he enjoyed listening to music with his grandchildren and son-In-Law, bar-b-que cookouts, playing basketball, and eating out with his family. He loved working outside with his son and sharing stories of his life and life lessons. Ludie lived his life on his terms always with a big smile and a commitment to his legacies. He often said he lived the years the Lord promised him and every day beyond that was a bonus. He loved his family and his siblings dearly.
He is survived by his children: Melinda L. Edwards (Vincent) of Hampton, VA, and Ludie Marsh Jr. (Angela) Of Lyndhurst, OH. Ludie leaves behind three grandchildren; SFC Vincent A. Edwards (Tanisha) of Fort Eustis, VA, Christopher D. Edwards Sr., (Keiarra) of Hampton, VA, and Trinity B. Marsh, of Lyndhurst, OH. He also leaves behind five great-grandchildren: Lamere L. Edwards, Laylah M. Edwards, Aliyah A. Edwards, Christopher D. Edwards Jr., and Elijah M. Edwards. One brother Epp Marsh Jr., (Johnnie Mae deceased), three sisters-Francis Shelby (Albert deceased), Ruth Barnwell, and Alice Willis. He is preceded in death by three brothers-Lonnie Marsh, Leonard Marsh (Sammie Lou deceased), and William Marsh, and three sisters-Gertrude Lockett (William deceased), Catherine Smith (Cleo deceased), and Mary Johnson, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
His infectious smile and wisdom will be sorely missed.
