Lula Mae Powell went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 14, 2019. She was born November 2, 1940, in New Castle, Alabama to the union of Jeff and Hattie Powell. In 1952, the family moved to Akron, OH. Lula attended South High and worked for AHOPE in her later years. She was a member of the Lady Marmalades and helped run the Powell family club. She was an avid bowler and a card enthusiast of her time. She will always be alive in our hearts.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Fannie Addie; brothers, Jeff, Walter, and Jerome Powell.
She leaves to cherish her memory; daughters, Sharon, Kimberly and Voncile Powell; her only loving son, Duane (Darlene) Powell; special niece, Rebecca (Donald) Christian; sisters, Salonia Bushner of Powder Springs, GA, Mary Mayes, Ernestine (Keith) Strother of Cleveland, OH, Lonnie Smith of Akron, OH, grandsons, Hermaine Powell, Dominique Powell, Duane Hayes, Donte Powell, Darnell Pringle, Deirre Powell, Richard Greer; granddaughters, Marsheri Smith, Latisha Hayes, Rashae Greer, Darshawna Powell and Lorinda Brandon; 25 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces, and other relatives and a multitude of friends.
