Lula B. Robinson Boone affectionately referred to by her family as “momma” was born in Iselin, Pennsylvania on Thursday, October 9, 1924 to Edward Burrell and Catherine Lunda. Growing up in a faith-based household, her father being a minister, she accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Akron, OH for seventy-six years. As a member of Shiloh, she served on the nurse’s guild, was the treasurer of the service ministry, taught vacation bible school VBS, and also was a member of the choir.
Having worked at BF Goodrich, Roadway, and Merryweather in various capacities her main career was being a loving wife, mother, and caregiver to so many. Momma was a little lady with a lot of fire, stern voice, devoted love for the Lord, her family, and expressed compassion for many others.
Momma was joined in marriage, March 1943, to Samuel L. Robinson Sr. During their marriage they were blessed with eleven children (nine living) and four generations after. After the passing of Samuel in July 1979, she was joined in marriage with James Boone in 1980.
Momma was a lover of music, having a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed playing the piano. She loved to dance and was a masterful seamstress including crochet. She enjoyed upholstering furniture and would get under the hood of a car with best of them. She loved working in her yard gardening and flowering. Momma made the best homemade rolls! Momma also painted, relaxed doing word puzzles and was quite the jokester.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, four brothers and two sisters, children – David Michael Robinson, Samuel L. Robinson Jr., Carol Burand, and two angels. She is survived by children – Shirley Woodall, Loretta Rice Thomas, Theresa Robinson, Timothy Robinson (Twyla), Anita Robinson, and Janyne Davis (William), nineteen grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
