Lydia Adegbite (January 28, 1950-September 12, 2024)

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lydia Adegbite, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and educator.

Early Life and Education

She was born to Emmanuel and Elizabeth Abiola on January 28, 1950, in Ire, Osun State, Nigeria. After completing secondary school, she pursued her dream of becoming a teacher by attending Wesley College in Ibadan, where she obtained her first teaching degree. She later attended Osun State College of Education in Ila, where she obtained a Nigeria Certificate in Education.

Family and Life

Lydia was married to DeGraft Adegbite, and together they shared four children: Mayowa Adegbite, Clara Adeniyi, Paul Adegbite, and Paula Adegbite. She loved singing and was a member of the church choir for several years. Lydia enjoyed nature and loved caring for her family. Some of her favorite pastimes were gardening and cooking delicious meals for her loved ones.

Loved Ones

Lydia was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Kehinde Abiola, Toyin Abiola, and Taye Abiola. Survivors include spouse, DeGraft Adegbite, sons, Victor Adegbite, Paul Adegbite, daughters, Clara Adeniyi, Paula Adegbite, sisters, Comfort Alao, Funke Abiola, brothers, Gabriel Abiola, Paul Abiola, Lanre Abiola, and 9 grandchildren.

Legacy

She was a loving and kind-hearted person who had a passion for life. We would greatly miss her sense of humor, her dedication to those she loved, and her unwavering faith. Her impact on those who knew her will be remembered forever.
