Mable Lee Orr – Wilborn (Jennings) was born on July 21, 1920 to the late Fannie and Matt Orr in Heath, Arkansas. She resided with her parents until she met her husband James L. Jennings who preceded her in death.
Mable was the eldest of four siblings, Herbert, Othello and Denver Wilborn. She farmed and sharecropped with her family and at age of fifteen. She left Heath, Arkansas and went to live with her aunt and uncle to attend high school a distance away in Earl, Arkansas. After returning home for the summer she met her future husband, James L. Jennings and they were married on December 12, 1937. Out of their union seven children were born, Christine, Frankie, James Jr., Eddie, Grace, Esther and Larry.
Mable left Earl, Arkansas with her husband in 1945 and moved to Cleveland, Ohio. Shortly after coming to Cleveland, Ohio she and her husband became members of Second Tabernacle Baptist Church, where she served in various areas including Sunday School Teacher and Nurses Guild.
Mable worked at St. Lukes Hospital for approximately 18 years and held multiple jobs in the Cleveland area. She retired in 1980 and in the early stages of her retirement she enjoyed quilting, cooking, time with the family and her grandchildren. She also loved spending time studying the Word and was a devoted member of Second Tabernacle Baptist Church.
Mable L. Jennings departed this life on January 8, 2020 at 1:42 A.M. at St. Vincent Charity Hospital. We thank the Lord that she is in his rest and he has made her glad, we are thankful that we got to be a part of her love, beauty and her life.
She leaves to celebrate her homegoing a loving family of seven children: Christine (John) Carter, Frankie Crichlow, James Jennings Jr., Eddie Jennings (deceased), Grace Jennings, Esther (Reginald) Carter I, and Larry (Lucille) Jennings. Eleven grandchildren; Vickie (Carl), Jason, Emmett, Tracy, Carl (Charnell), Rachell, Salena, Shawn (Keya), Allen, Reginald II, Alliyha.
16 Great-Grandchildren; Kenney, Emmett IV, Erika, Clifford, Carlisa, Carl, Lisa, Char-lisa, Brandy, Brittney, Brook, Christopher, Tyshanee’, Antonio, Marquiez, Shawn Jr. and 16 Great, Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews extended family and friends. One of the richest memories of our mother, grandmother and great, great grandmother is that she would always remind us that we should
“TAKE THE LORD WITH US WHERE EVER WE GO AND WE WILL FIND OUR WAY” AMEN!!!
