Mamie L. Mitchell was born March 30, 1937, in Lexington, MS to the late Pleasant and Joycie Randle. She was the oldest of eleven children.
Mamie, accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Rev. Cherry. She obtained her education through the Lexington School system, and later attended Jackson State University.
Mamie married Ozell Mitchell Jr., August 28, 1957, shortly thereafter, they relocated to Cleveland, OH. To this union, 3 children were born. After her relocation, Mamie was employed by Joseph & Feiss, Hugo Boss, and she later retired from Catholic Charities.
Mamie was a lover of life. She loved cooking, entertaining, crafting & decorating, Mamie loved to COOK! Mamie was very outspoken and never held her tongue, but made everyone feel like they were special.
Mamie, departed this life on March 7, 2024; she was proceeded in death by her parents, Pleasant and Joycie, her husband Ozell, sons Mark and Michael, as well as her brothers Pleasant III, Oscar and N. Jesse.
She leaves behind to cherish her memories, her daughter, Denise (Reuben), granddaughters Brittainni and Taelor; great grandchildren Terrell Jr., Trinity and Lyric; four sisters Garee, Sallie, W. Pearl (William) and Betty; and three brothers Alphonso, Onzo and Isiah (Susie); one sister in law Lela; special friends Ruth, Deeda, Mrs. Reddick, Mae, Alice and Mrs. McCutcheon, special caregiver Sandra, nieces and nephews; as well as a host of cousins and friends.
