Mandy was born June 16, 1937 in Grenada, Mississippi to Lydia Herron. Mandy moved from Jackson, MS in 1968 to be closer to family and establish her career. She then went on to Hammel College, completing her diploma, soon to take a job with Summit County as an assistant in the community, later retiring. She was also a team member at Krispy Kreme.
Mandy was a devoted member of Jerusalem Baptist Church, where Bishop Mark Neal then presided. In 1999, she joined Akron Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. P.C. Chavis and his ministry.
Mandy enjoyed sewing, reading, and baking her special cookies and pies.
Mandy was preceded in death by her mother, Lydia Herron; uncles James, Mack, and Percy Ely; aunts Ruby, Francis, and Barbara Ely.
Her surviving immediate family are her son, Rev. Barry Pegues (Danielle); granddaughters Christina and A’Shyiah; grandsons Larry and Shaderra (Brandie); uncle Gilbert Ely; and a host of other relatives and friends.
