Born on July 8, 1951, in Bessemer, Alabama, to Alatha and John Beverly, Margaret L. Beverly-Butler was raised with a deep love for family, faith, and the comforts of home. From an early age, she found joy in the kitchen alongside her mother, where she developed the skills for homemade cooking that later became one of the many ways she expressed love to those around her. She also found strength and comfort in her faith, remaining a devoted Christian throughout her life.
Margaret attended grade school in her hometown of Bessemer before moving to Cleveland, Ohio, in the late 1960s following the passing of her parents. Though life brought its share of hardships, Margaret continued forward with resilience and strength. Over the years, she worked in various industries, including factory work and food service, but her greatest role was that of a homemaker, caring for her family and creating a home filled with love.
In 1984, Margaret married James Butler. Together, they built a life centered on family, and she was the proud mother of two children, Lashawnda and Deanna. And four grandchildren, Leela, Amelia, Noah, and Adian. Margaret also came from a large family and shared a special bond with her eight siblings, which included five brothers and two sisters.
Margaret had a lively personality and a spirit that brought joy to those around her. She was a true sports fanatic who loved watching basketball and football. Although she was a homebody at heart, she had a wonderful sense of humor and enjoyed joking with others and making people laugh. Her warmth, faith, love for family, and ability to bring smiles to those around her will always be remembered. Margaret’s life reflected love, perseverance, and devotion. She touched the lives of
many through her kindness, her laughter, and the care she gave so freely. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
She is preceded in death by John and Alatha Beverly, parents; husband James E. Butler; brothers Carl Beverly, John Beverly Jr., Eddie Bryant, Jerry Beverly; sister Betty Thomas, and nephew Gregory Thomas.
