Margaret M. Lauderdale was the 2nd oldest daughter born in Randolph County, Cuthbert, Ga., to Leola Killins. Margaret received her formative education from the Randolph County Training School and graduated in 1957.
Margaret accepted Christ at an early age as a member of Antioch Baptist Church, Cuthbert Ga. Margaret moved from Cuthbert soon after graduating from High School to Cleveland Ohio. Margaret received training as a nursing assistant working for several years at Fairview Park before receiving training for ward secretary and office work. She learned how to operate printing machines that ultimately lead her to become the operator of the Print Shop for Mt. Sinai Medical Center for over 30 years. After the closing of Mt. Sinai, she worked in two dental offices with Dr. Gresham, Dr. DeBerry, Dr. Towers and Dr. Davis, then with Dr. Harper and Dr. Gilmore. Later, because all she knew was giving of herself, she came to work in hospitality services at The Kemper House.
Margaret was married to Joseph C Lauderdale who preceded her in death. She was “Auntee Margaret” and he, “Uncle Joe”, to many nieces and nephews.
Margaret was a faithful member of Second Lakeview Baptist Church for over 40 years. Her passion was serving in the Nurses Guild where she served as president. She took pride in her uniform, it had to be perfect: bright white starched and pressed. Making sure the towel and water for the pastor was in place as well. A faithful servant of God until the end.
Margaret was a kind and gentle spirit, willing to help anyone. She loved to bowl, was a part of several leagues earning numerous trophies. We will miss her baked and canned goodies. We ALL have enjoyed her vegetable corn casserole and anything else she wanted to cook us. She truly gave of herself, she would quietly show up for everyone and take photos at every life event to create memories that would last a lifetime. On Thursday, September 26, 2024, she was received into God’s loving presence.
Margaret was preceded in death by her sisters, Marion, Lonnie, and Elizabeth. To cherish fond memories, she leaves her sister Gwen Killins of Albany, GA. Nieces, nephews, and a host of family and friends from Dublin, GA, Tampa & Miami FL, Lansing, MI and Cleveland, OH. She was truly loved by all who knew her.
