Celebrating the life of Mrs. Marian Allen…She was born in Rome, Georgia on April 7, 1921. At the age of 6 months old was moved to Springfield, OH and spent most of her younger life there. She attended public schools in Springfield and after graduation worked at the only department store in Springfield, Wrens, as a salesperson.
Marian accepted Christ in her heart and life at an early age and was baptized in Springfield.
Marian moved to Akron, Ohio in 1941 and was married there and started her family. She was mainly a homemaker but did work outside the home at Polsky’s department store at Summit Mall for many years, once her children were older.
Marian was a member of the NAACP, Chapel Hill Walker’s club, Ed Davis Senior Group and the Golden Hearts Senior Group. She enjoyed the fellowship with the members and the many memorable trips they took together. She had a gift of “giving” and she enjoyed making others laugh through her humor and charm. She survived Ovarian Cancer in 2008 and Covid-19 in 2020. She loved the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Cleveland Browns!
Marian was a former member of Bethel Baptist Church for many years and was currently a member of Second Baptist Church, Akron, OH where Roderick Pounds is the Pastor.
Her favorite scriptures are Psalm 91, Psalm 23 and John 14, which even at the age of 98, could recite them in full from memory. God blessed her with a great mind.
Marian’s last place of residence while she was still with us was room 333 at Continuing Health Care, which we will call the trinity room, where she stayed with God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
