Marquise Allen Goodwin was born on July 24, 1980, at Mt. Sinai Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.
Marquise passed away unexpectedly on April 17, 2023. He was 42 years old. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden death.
Marquise grew up in Cleveland, Ohio where he attended the Cleveland School of the Arts as a theater major, offering his amazing talents in various theater productions. He went on to join the United States Army immediately after graduating from high school and served for 25 years, moving up in rank and becoming Sergeant Major Goodwin. While Marquise served his country, he also attended college and earned his degree in Human Resources. Marquise was a leader in and outside of the service.
Marquise was a beautiful person inside and out. He cared so deeply for the people in his life and all those who were around him. He was a fierce supporter of his family and friends. Whenever you called him, he was always there. He was kind, passionate, and made an impact on so many lives. He will forever be missed.
Marquise loved to go bowling, dancing, riding his motorcycle, and traveling the world. But most of all, he loved spending quality time with his family. He had a great sense of humor and never let a good joke go unacknowledged. He had the widest smile and the most infectious laugh – he was truly fun to be around.
Marquise is preceded in death by his mother, Lurthea Goodwin, his paternal grandparents, Nora and John Meadows, and his uncle, Michael Goodwin.
He is survived by his father, Dennis A. Crawford, his children, Destiny and Daely Goodwin, his granddaughter, Mena, his godson, Ka’im Hill, his brothers, Dennis Crawford, Derrick Means (Vanessa Means), and Spencer Crawford, his sister, Shawntae Shephard (Terrence Shephard), his aunts and uncles, Frances Meadows, Linda Bowen (Terry Bowen), Veronica Russell (Wayne Russell), and Samuel Crawford, his best friends, Abbas Hill and Willie Scott, his bonus mom, Janeth Davis, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, military family, and fraternity brothers.
