Santura Pegram left a message on April 26, 2022:
Sherri, Marty Jr., David, Mother Lee & other family and friends: Despite the storm you are each going through at the moment, and the many dark days and lonely nights to follow, I speak blessings over your lives and pray that you can find some level of comfort in frequently remembering the amazing presence and fond memories of Big Marty. Not many people can say that they actually know or knew someone who not only was a dynamic personality in every way, but who also had an unbelievably positive spirit and was a real-life human example of what "genuine friendship" and "relationships" mean in this world. Impressively, he inspired other people (like very few can/do) without even being aware of it, and it didn't take him to be someone who flaunted meaningless material possessions or to be an artificial, yet popular, public figure to do so. Instead, people LOVED Marty because he was 'real'! He was THAT guy! Although I was deeply saddened to learn of his recent transition from this realm, I can truly appreciate Marty in so many ways as a friend...even if we didn't talk that often anymore. Interestingly, the last time I ran into him was three-years ago (2019) at a local eatery when I was in town visiting for a few days. We both lit up like Christmas trees when we laid eyes on each other because it had been two decades before that due to me now residing in Miami. I can remember that interaction now as if it was yesterday and how Marty sat with me, spoke fondly of his wife (Sherri) and glowingly about "his boys," and offered me genuine, compassionate words (despite sharing the reality of him dealing with his own challenges) upon finding out that I have been struggling with a serious health challenge of my own. He spoke so positively and encouraging and urged me to "forgive anyone who has ever wronged me, and to pray for their forgiveness as well because life here is short and what is far more important lies ahead." His words have remained with me to this very day. We spoke sporadically thereafter by phone, but despite that we always maintained a bulletproof admiration for each other that I can honestly say I share with very few other people. One thing's for sure...individuals like Marty Lee Sr. come once in a lifetime. Cherish your memories of him just I will continue to do. Northeast Ohio has lost a great spirit in the form of him...

Jaron Hicks left a message on April 20, 2022:
I had the pleasure of meeting Marty a little over 10 years ago. I worked with him in Sandusky building an education addition to a church. I was 20 at the time when I met Marty. He was my Forman and a good carpenter. We soon learned from one another that we had something in common. We were both Christian men and we both played piano for Church. During the 8 months we worked together we shared some of our favorite gospel artist and songs. We even got the church members to let us in the sanctuary to tickle the ivories. He was a great example of how a Godly man can work in a rough environment like construction, deal with the different personalities of a handful of workers and still maintain Christian values without compromise. We stayed in contact through the years on Facebook and not too long ago he shared his condolences for the passing of my Grandfather who was our supervisor. Marty is someone that God put in my life in a time I needed him when I was young and impressionable. I will never forget him and I am beyond upset to hear of his passing. Even still we can rejoice to know he is with his savior. No pain. No Sorrow. Only happiness in everlasting Glory. Prayers go up to all the family. May God give you all peace during this time
