Mary Elizabeth (Harris) Wimbush was born May 14th, 1943, in Tuskegee Alabama.
Mary received her education in the Alabama Public school system. After graduating she moved to New York City, however quickly desired to be closer with family and relocated to Cleveland, Ohio. While in Cleveland, her brother Major Harris introduced her to a gentleman named Oliver Wimbush. Following a seven-month period of courtship, they were married in 1966 and from this union were blessed with a son, Michael.
Mary worked several jobs throughout her life in retail, customer service and education. She was employed by the Cleveland Public School System for many years but enjoyed working at Anton Grdina school the most, beginning in 1989 until retiring in 2011 with fellow colleague and dear friend Pam Hummer.
Mary enjoyed spending time with family and friends, Barbara Williams, especially Georgette Moon and her girlfriends from the Tuskegee High School class of 1961. She loved to cook and try new recipes, bake cakes and was known for her tasty unique flavored sweet breads. She was creative with crafts, enthusiastic about any and everything from Tuskegee, Alabama and loved President Barack Obama.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Oliver Lee Wimbush, mother, Lizzie Lou Harris, and siblings: Major Harris, Charlie Harris Jr., Otis Harris, and Jimmy Hughley.
She is survived by son Michael Anthony Wimbush of Columbus, Ohio; sister, Linda Harris, of Cleveland, Ohio, sister Alice Renfro in Bear, Delaware, uncle, Ezekiel (Carol Ann) Moore, Houston Texas, sister-in-law Glenora (John) Anderson, of Louisville, Kentucky, Barbara Williams, Cleveland, Ohio, Pam Hummer Cleveland, Ohio and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
