On August 29, 2024, at 8:21 p.m. God opened the gates of heaven to Mary Lillian Prude. Mary was born on December 9, 1946, in Akron, Ohio to Alphonso Sr. and Madgie D. Turner. Mary attended Akron Public Schools where she graduated from South High School. Mary began her spiritual journey at an early age. She was baptized at Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Stanley Linton. Mary dedicated her life to serving the Lord and was an avid prayer warrior. Mary remained a member of Second Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Roderick C. Pounds-Solomon. Mary began her career at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, but her true calling was caring for others. She was employed by Dee Maret Nursing Home and Sumner of Merriman from which she retired. Mary was a family woman who enjoyed bowling, cooking, traveling and vacationing with her children, and playing cards with family and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents Alphonso Sr. and Madgie D. Turner, brothers William Huggins (Ruth) and Alphonso “Al” Turner, sisters Elizabeth Sales and Ruth “Poochie” Turner, son in laws, Anthony “Smokemeat” Taylor Sr., Walter “Top Cat” Fain, and the love of her life, Oscar Prude III.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her children; Tracy Fain, Madgie “Dee Dee” Taylor, Nathaniel L. Turner (Cassandra), Darrin L. Prude (Raquel), Dion L. Prude, Sr. (Shawanda); grandchildren, Tameca Lee (Julius), Tarell Fain (Jessica), Angel Taylor, Anthony Taylor Jr., Jazmuyn Jones (DeAndre), Tatyanna Thomas (Justin), Dion Prude Jr., Devin Prude, Trevanna Prude, Rovion Simmons, Myron Tibbs Jr., Taylor Todd, Rhyan Todd; Goddaughter, Shamara Atkinson; Bonus sons, Oscar “Peanut” Prude IV and Kevin “Tanzy” Claridy; Granny’s Hero, Lamar “Man Man” Sperling, 24 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. Lifelong friends, Sheryl Averitte, Stella Bass, Margie Poe. Special devoted friend, Earlie Sykes. A host of many family and friends.
Mary was very well loved, well regarded and will be truly missed.
