Mary Martha Randle, age 90, was called home to her eternal rest on Friday, October 25, 2024. She was born on January 3, 1934, in Mason, Tennessee, to Mattie and Dennis Randle, who both preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her son, Timmy Randle; her sister, Delores Randle; and her brothers, Dennis and Wilbur Randle.
Mary graduated from Fayette County Training School in Somerville, Tennessee, with the Class of 1952. In 1958, she moved to Cleveland, Ohio, where she began her career with the Rosenblum family, dedicating over twenty years to their service. Later, she joined the East End Neighborhood House through the National Center and Caucus on Black Aged, Inc. as part of the Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP). This program provides service-based training to eligible job seekers aged 55 and older at local nonprofits and public organizations. At East End Neighborhood House, Mary served as a dietary aide, caring for both
children and seniors. She continued her service there for nearly 15 years, leaving an indelible mark on the community she cherished.
Mary’s favorite hobbies included sewing, cooking, and baking. Known for her exceptional cakes, she would always remind family, friends, and even passersby on Sundays that a fresh cake was ready—and a slice was always offered. Sundays were her favorite day to cook, and her dinners were plentiful, shared generously with all who came by.
Her beloved Cleveland Indians were her pride and joy. You could often find her sitting on her porch with the radio, faithfully listening to every game, win or lose. Mary had a heart of gold and a smile that could light up any room, bringing warmth and joy to everyone she met.
She attended Jennings Day Care daily, where she enjoyed participating in a variety of activities such as arts and crafts, plays, music, and socializing. She especially loved taking part in the annual Christmas Musical, where she would sing some of her favorite holiday songs. Even as her strength waned, she could still recite the 23rd Psalm by heart, a testament to her enduring faith.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Renita Randle Pride and Roschel Randle; granddaughters, Tiffany Crutchfield and Roshauna Randle; great-grandson, Jayce Randle; and her niece, Evelyn Hollowell (Emery), all of Cleveland, Ohio, along with a host of loving family and friends.
