Mary Elizabeth Woodie (Moorer) was born December 17, 1932, to parents, Richard, and Viola (Salter) Moorer. She attended Seiberling grade school and East high school. She exhibited a hard work ethic all her life. She worked various jobs from Smith Enamel, Fairlawn Car Wash, Akron Public School system, and Kentucky Fried Chicken. She had a giving and nurturing spirit. She truly loved her family. When a family member became ill, she was right there to help care for them. She was very active in her churches, Prayer Tower, and Cascade Faith Ministries until declining health.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Viola Moorer, husband, Thomas Woodie Sr., sons, William Austin Sr., Myron Austin Sr., daughter, Belinda Gale Woodie; brothers, Richard Moorer Jr., Charles Moorer Sr., Eugene Moorer Sr., and Kenneth Moorer Sr; sisters, Willie B. Lewis, Dahlia Woodie, Martha Amos, Florence McDonald, and Gertrude Holt; nephews, Allan Austin Jr., and Terrance Rodgers.
She is survived by her sons, Allan Austin Sr., Dwight (Amy) Austin Sr., Thomas (Shel`le) Woodie Jr., Kerry Franklin, Alphonso (Katrinka) Woodie Jr. and Glenn Woodie, daughters, Sandra Wilkins, Sheree Franklin, Dawn (Darnell) Jones, Mindy Clayton, and Theresa Woodie; sister, Loretta Patterson and brother, Lawrence (Lee) Moorer Sr.; special caregivers, Christina Collins, Cristen Jones and great-granddaughter, Aiyana Austin and a large host of relatives and friends.
