My sincerest condolences to mats family and friends. Matt was one of my mentors while serving as the president of the Karamu camera guild. You will definitely be missed!!
Maxine Casey Richmond left a message on August 22, 2023:
My condolences to the family. Sadly, I am just learning of his passing. My camera body has been replaced with my cell phone camera. I am so grateful for the many photography skills that Matt taught me as a member of the Karamu Camera Guild. His photographs were the best examples for study, from composition to contrast. I'm also remembering Matt's love of clouds, he passed it on to all of us. We can all look up now and think of him. Sincerely.

Uncle Matt was an amazing person. My entire life I've known him to be family, and in many ways he was like a grandfather to my sisters and I. He taught me so much about photography and perspective, and started my love of coin collecting! He gave me many coins from different countries from around the world and would excitedly tell me about places he had traveled to. He was someone who was an example of unconditional love. I will always remember him for the love and wisdom he shared with me, and for encouraging me to be curious about the world, and to go out and explore it. My condolences and prayers go out to the family, and to all who are feeling this loss. Rest in peace Uncle Matt! I hope you're up there dancing with joy! All my love, Elizabeth.

Fred & Juliette Perry left a message on August 18, 2023:
Matthew was a great photographer! My dad Fred Perry knew Matthew well, as a bahai. They had many conversations together discussing assistant living facilities, and opinions about different assistant living facilities. Matthew was easy to talk to, and to get to know as a bahai, and as a person. He had talent in being a photographer, and he performed that talent well. Matthew was well liked by bahai's, and he carried himself with confidence and credibility.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

First I would like to send my dearest condolences and prayers of healing to the family. Matt as I have known him to be a vibrant soul full of love and gratitude to those he cared for. He was a dear friend to my family and best friend to my Grandmother Hattie Hamlet. They both gave me so much inspiration seeing them skate or dance the days away. The certainly knew the best doctors in life to keep them young at heart. I will remember all the good times we shared together. May you rest in Heaven with the angels still dancing and skating to all your favorite tunes. Until we meet again.. Much Love to you and the family.

I am so sorry for your loss. Matt loved his family and often shared events, memories, etc. with us. My late husband and I enjoyed traveling with him and my mom, Hattie. Thanks to Matt, we have many cherished pictures of those times. I am so grateful for the sheer joy of life that he and my mom shared. I can still see them being the very last couple on the dance floor!
