Maude Ettuce Bell, affectionately known as Grandmother, was born on March 27, 1931, in Jennifer, Alabama. She was the first born out of the seven children of Lonnie and Ala Mae (Boswell) Towns.
Maude graduated from Jennifer High School. She then went on to marry the love of her life, AD Bell, on April 24, 1950. From this union four beautiful children were born: Alfred Douglas, Jacqueline, Edward Earl and Carol Ann. They raised their children in Jennifer, Alabama. During this time, she worked at the Genesco sewing factory in Hobson City, Alabama.
In 1967, they relocated their family to Ohio. While here, Maude worked as a housekeeper at Cuyahoga Falls General Hospital in the surgical unit for many years until her retirement.
Maude was a loving caregiver and homemaker. She enjoyed cooking and caring for her family. Those that knew her often heard her humming or singing her favorite songs. She was a truly wonderful woman who will be missed dearly.
Maude was preceded in death by her husband, AD Bell; parents, Lonnie Towns and Ala Mae (Boswell) Towns; son, Alfred Bell; great-granddaughter, Jada Elizabeth; brothers, Lonnie “Bolt” Towns Jr., Johnnie Towns and Clarence “Buster” Towns.
Left to cherish her memory is her children, Jacqueline Clemons, Earl (Betty) Bell and Carol (Tony) Mims; daughter-in-law, Linda Bell; special daughter, Carolyn Bell; sisters, Juliette Jackson, Ada (Beotis) Johnson and Vera (Robert) Burns; 16 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great grandchildren; as well as a host of many nieces, nephews, and friends.
