Miss Melanie Brock of Akron, Ohio, best known as “Mel B,” graced this earth on January 28, 1967, born to Barbara Brock and Robert Solomon. After fulfilling her earthly duties, she gained her heavenly wings on October 8, 2025.
Melanie graduated from Ellet High School and was a devoted employee at Rubbermaid for many years. She was loving, generous, and caring—full of class, but even more SASS!
She adored her family, especially her children and grandchildren. A woman of faith, she loved the Lord and attended Greater Bethel Baptist Church every Sunday. Her outspoken, direct, and funny personality brought joy to everyone around her.
She passed on her spunk and spirit to her beloved children—Tony, Mia, and Patrice—who will continue to carry on her legacy. Mel B will forever be remembered for her card games, fine foods, beautiful smile, radiant spirit, and bingo outings—she’d “cut you in,” but would definitely cut you off for playing crazy!
She was preceded in death by her father Eddie Lott Jr., brothers Blane Brock and Christopher Flowers, and sister Robin Brock.
Her loving spirit continues to live through her children Tony Brock, Mia Brock, and Patrice Brock; her devoted mother and best friend Barbara Brock; grandchildren Tai’Janaya Brock, Tony Brock Jr., Da’Leon Boyd, Janiyah Mullins, GarJuan Sheppard, Nyaire Brock, Willaya Brock, and Ja’Van Likely; and great-grandson King Smith. She is also survived by brothers Jon Welk and Anthony Brock; sisters Darlisa Brock and Jamela Lott; special niece (daughter) Diamond Strickland; and special friend Lamont Maxwell; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services will be held at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home on October 18, 2025. Viewing from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service immediately following.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made and placed in a special gift box at the service.
