Mettie Z. Fox, born on April 23, 1940, in Utica, Mississippi, was the fourth of eight children to Percy Sr. and Susie Richards, both of whom predeceased her. She embraced Christianity, accepting Christ as her personal Savior, and was an active member of the New Light Missionary Baptist Church. Her involvement in the church was notable, particularly in the Mission ministry where she regularly served.

In her leisure time, Mettie took pleasure in strolling through the Cleveland Metro parks, showcasing her culinary skills, and hosting festive dinners for family and friends. She was known for her hospitality and would warmly welcome anyone who showed up at her doorstep for a meal.
Her generosity was not limited to providing food but extended to sharing her resources and helping those in need. She was a shining light of compassion in our world, always prepared to lend a hand without a second thought. Her kind and giving spirit will always be known as her legacy.
