Mia Steele was born on March 15, 1966, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the beloved oldest of four children and was raised between Ohio and Tennessee, experiences that shaped her strength, wisdom, and deep love for family.
Mia graduated from Shaw High School in 1984. She became a mother at a young age, welcoming her first child, Jamie, and later had a daughter, Makya. Being a mother was one of Mia’s greatest joys, and she devoted her life to loving, guiding, and supporting her children.
On August 8, 2020, Mia married her husband, Ron Crawford, beginning a chapter filled with love, companionship, and partnership.
Mia worked at the Cleveland Clinic for many years, where she was known for her dedication, compassion, and strong work ethic. Caring for others was not just her profession-it was who she was.
Mia was a proud and loving grandmother to four beautiful granddaughters: Alana Weatherspoon (18), Laila Weatherspoon (16), Camille Weatherspoon (12), and Aubree Hampton (9). Her grandchildren were her heart, and she cherished every moment spent with them.
She enjoyed traveling, baking, planting, watching television with her family, and spending quality time with loved ones. Mia was known for cooking for others even when she didn’t eat herself, always putting the needs of family first. She was incredibly knowledgeable, kind, and selfless-a listening ear and a source of comfort to many.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Steele.
Mia leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Ron Crawford; her mother, Dannie Steele; her siblings John Steele, Jason Steele, and Iris Steele; her children Jamie and Makya; her four beloved granddaughters; and a host of extended family and friends whose lives she touched with love and kindness
