Michael D. Broaddus age 73, went home to be with the Lord on June 23, 2020, at his home surrounded by loved ones. He was born on June 20, 1947, in Barberton, Ohio. At an early age, he moved to Akron, Ohio. He graduated from South High School where he ran track and played baseball.
Soon after graduation, Mike was drafted to the Army where he served in Vietnam and earned a Purple Heart. After returning he went on to become a Prince Hall Mason, he worked for the US Postal Service for 42 years, where he worked as a mail handler and served as President of the Union Local 304 for many years.
Mike loved Jazz, going fishing, he was a great cook and a good baker. He enjoyed watching old Westerns and hanging out at the Casinos with his wife Sarah.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Welby B. Broaddus, Sr., and Nannie R. Broaddus.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah Lou Broaddus; daughter, Tara “Michelle” Broaddus; granddaughter, Taryn E. Broaddus; special niece-daughter, Tia Harris Hall (Antonio); nephew, Bryson Harris; sister-in-law, Yvonne Harris; brothers, Welby C. Broaddus (Marva), Anthony (Vicki) Broaddus and David (Rita) Broaddus; sisters, Karen Johnson, Kathy Davis, and Linda Woodson (Benjamin) and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
