Michael Neal, affectionately known as “Mike” was born on June 21,
1961. He was the 6th child born to the late Audrey Neal and Roy Neal,
Sr. Michael accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age at the
Cleveland Church of Christ and sang with the Joylanders Children’s
Choir. Michael received his education in the Cleveland Public School
System, he attended John Hay High School.
Michael had several employers early on such as Halle’s Dept. Store,
Gordon’s Bike Shop, Dave’s Supermarkets. He also performed various
side jobs in his later years.
Mike served as a Lifeguard at Cory Recreation Ctr., he was a great
swimmer. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing all sports. Many of
his childhood friends knew Michael by his nickname “Candy Bar”.
Mike was an avid Bicyclist. He could take a bike apart and put it back
together. He had his own personal bike shop in his garage. During
family gatherings, Michael was always the first person to lend a helping
hand for the cleanup. He was absolutely adored by his neighbors who
often called upon him to help out with different tasks, especially with
their landscaping.
He looked forward to the good times. He shared watching sports,
playing bid whist, while also spending quality time with his families.
Michael was very close to his siblings and held a very special bond
with each of them. He was known for having a protective spirit over
everyone he loved, especially his stepson Maurice (Reese).
On November 19th, 2022, Michael was called home to eternal rest by
our Heavenly Father. He was welcomed with open arms by his
parents, Audrey and Roy Neal and his brother Roy Neal, Jr. (Mickey)
who preceded him in death.
Michael leaves to cherish his memory his longtime companion Marzella
Holley; five stepchildren, Marvella (Marvin), Michael (Amanda),
Marquis (Terra), Maurice, Mikka and cousin Leon (Beanie); six sisters,
Sheilah (John deceased), Lynda, Myrna (Wayne), Gilda (Danford
deceased), Angela (Reginald), Ondrea, one brother, Martin (Kimberly)
and a host of step grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great nieces and
nephews, family and friends.
