Mizell Irby Jr., affectionately known as Stubby, went home to be with the Lord on Jan 11th, 2022, after 68 years of a faithful, fulfilled life.
Mizell was a lifelong resident of Akron, Ohio and graduated from Garfield High School where he participated in football, baseball, and wrestling. He was very proud to be a part of the Garfield Rams’ class of 1971, the first undefeated football team on record.
Stubby enjoyed traveling, spending time with family, and reading biblical scriptures. He was employed at Goodyear Rubber Factory, worked as a sales representative for SD Meyers, and owned Irby Painting Services.
He captivated all that were around him and held a sense of humor that was infectious to all that knew and loved him. Mizell was extremely passionate about spreading the word of our God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob to all Israelites.
Mizell was preceded in death by parents, Mizell Irby and Ossie May Irby; and siblings, Robert Hood, Jessie Terrell, and Shirley Brice.
He is survived by children, Tinisha Cartledge, Jennifer Irby, Sean (Tina) Long and Ali Irby; grandchildren, Danaysia, Taesia, Kayla, Jayla, and Jagger Mizell; ex-wife, Cynthia Irby; siblings, Marcella Irby, Rosalind (Jeff) Mayes, Michael (Angie) Irby; special friend, Janice Miller; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
