Monica Shawne Riley Hill was born to Sylvia May Wade Riley and Joe Louis Riley on September 14, 1967 in the city of Akron, Ohio. She was their fourth child out of seven. After Monica graduated from Central – Hower High School in 1985, and Logos Bible Institute in 1992, she furthered her education at the University of Akron and Hammel College.
Growing up in a faithful household, Monica attended Miracle Revival Church from childhood and was a member of the House of the Lord where she was a Sunday school teacher. She also became a member and deaconess of New Trinity Missionary Baptist Church later in life after her marriage. Always a committed worker, Monica worked in many industries throughout her lifetime. She had long careers in the nursing field, food service industry, and manufacturing industry.
She met and fell in love with Roy Hill Jr. in 1991 and they subsequently married in 1993. They had four children together over the course of their marriage.
Monica was a kind and caring person, always willing to lend a hand to whoever may be of need. She attended every party she was ever invited to and never showed up empty-handed. She was a devoted wife, a dedicated mother, a doting grandmother, a compassionate sister, a supporting aunt, and a life long friend for all those who knew her. She will be forever loved and missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents Joe Louis Riley and Sylvia May Wade Riley Pringle.
She leaves behind her husband of 27 years, Roy Hill Jr.; their four children, Roy Hill III, Sylvanna Hill, Shannon Hill, and Reese Hill; three grandchildren, Travis Hill, Maximus Hill-Ferrell, and Phoenix Ferrell; siblings, Joe S. Riley, Jeffrey (Andrea) Riley, Melinda (Timothy) Fagerstrom, Merritta Riley, Justin (Deanne) Riley and Melissa (Tracy) Peeples; a host of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many lifelong friends.
