Morris Collins was born on April 14,1949, to Marcus Collins Sr. and Lois K. Collins (Robinson), who both preceded him in death.
Morris was an extremely devoted husband to the love of his life ‘Kaan” (whose name is Carrie.) Morris loved ‘Kaan” from the first moment he saw her on 139th & Christine in 1971. They married on January 5, 1974. In May of the same year Melissa, affectionately known as ‘Nikki” was born. Morris adored Nikki and being a father. In 1978 Gloria known to most as Megan, because Morris wanted ALL his kids’ names to start with “M”, was born!! His “Baby girl” Kristen, was born in1980.
Morris graduated from J.F.K High in 1968. Morris worked exceptionally well with tools and his hands and had a love for muscle cars and motorcycles. He worked several jobs after graduating, in 1968 was employed by General Motors. Being one of the few black men employed for GM at that time, Morris was so phenomenal at his position he was recruited to become a millwright.
Morris attended the rigorous course finishing at the top and obtained his CDL in 1997. Morris loved the outdoors, fishing, Sunday drives, traveling to Alabama and spending time with his family and friends.
Morris leaves to mourn his wife of 51 years Carrie Collins , daughters Gloria Megan Collins, Kristen Marcia Collins, Grandchildren Laila Ann McGowan and Bryson Morris Hughley and Great granddaughter Logan Noelle Wall, Brothers Marcus Sr (Donna), Martin (Jessica) and Morton (Kim) and a host of loving nieces and nephews from Alabama and Ohio. Special friends Rich Elliott, and Casey Jones.
