Richard Miles Bass Jr. of Cleveland, Ohio, gained his wings on March 28th, 2022 at the age of 90. After a few months of declining health Richard died peacefully in no pain.
Richard was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 8, 1931, to his parents Richard Miles Sr. and Marie Griffin. Who both proceeded him in death. He was the oldest of six sons, Richard didn’t have the opportunity for much formal education. Richard went to East Tech High School. His work ethics and desire to take care of his family led him to enlist in the army. Richard returned to Cleveland and used his G.I. bill benefits to buy property in Shaker.
Richard was baptized as Catholic and was a longtime member of Epiphany, St. Cecilia and his last church home was Holy Spirit.
Richard met and married Mary B. Jenkins of Fort Deposit Alabama, who proceeded him in death, and from that union they had six children 5 girls and one boy. Betty(deceased), Mary Louise (deceased), Linda, Jerome, Marsha, and Carmetta (Angel Face) all from Cleveland, Ohio.
Daddy was all about family. He worked at many, many jobs. Retiring from General Motor’s after 32 years. Where he was lovingly called the “Rock” of service.
Daddy donated much of his time at the food bank, where he so loved helping other’s. He met and married Janice DANIELS OF Cleveland, Ohio in 2003-2018 where she proceeded him in death. Daddy was especially close to his cousin Herbert Bass with whom he spoke with daily.
He enjoyed Cleveland, Browns, Indians, Cavaliers, and from time-to-time Bingo. He leaves to morn his passing, Linda, Jerome, Marsha (Tony), Carmetta (Jameel) Bradson. Ten grandchildren; Lashawn, Richard, Yvette, Tameka, Davina, Raynell, Myson, LL Carmetta (Boobie), and Adrienne Nicole. A host of Great, Great-great grandchildren. Along with other relative, family and friends.
We will miss you father and always will. He was a father so very rare. Content in his home and always there. On earth he toiled, in heaven he will rest God Bless You Father.
