Willie Earl Davis went home to be with Lord on November 2, 2021.
Willie also known as “Willearl” son of the late George Davis Jr and Johnnie Mae Davis was born on December 29, 1946, in Raymond, MS. One brother, Lamar Davis also preceded his death. Willie was the middle of seven children.
Willie accepted Christ at a young age and loved the Lord. For over forty years, he was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.
Willie loved to learn and pursued his education at HBCU Jackson State University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Industrial Arts in 1970. Willie was ambitious and moved from Raymond, MS to Cleveland, Ohio in 1971 for a great opportunity as an Industrial Arts teacher teaching woodwork for The Cleveland Metropolitan School District. Willie then married Annie Davis and had three beautiful children Derrick, Christie, and Connie.
Willie was a master with his hands and had an exquisite mind where his creativity flowed in the classroom teaching children how to imagine, draw, and create their own wooden projects. Willie’s love for woodwork flowed in his home as well where he designed, drafted, and made many beautiful furniture pieces for his family. He made their beds, dressers, end tables, dining room tables, coffee tables, lamps and much more! All the pieces he made back in the 80’s can be seen in today’s modern designs.
Willie retired from The Cleveland Metropolitan School District after 30+ years of service. After retirement, he continued doing what he loved and that was creating new designs and working on cars.
Willie will forever be loved, missed and cherished in our hearts. He was a loving and supportive father of Derrick Davis, Christie Davis-Edwards (Sherman Edwards Jr) and Connie Davis. A loving Grandfather to Jalin Davis, Derrick Davis Jr, Ronald Wilson III and Deyon Davis. A loving brother to Edna Parker, Rosie Burse, Gloria Jones, Lenon Davis and Alfred Davis. He will also be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
