Murray-Akil Wahdu Poole was born in Atlanta, Georgia on October 25, 1977, and despite this, he was just a kid from Akron, OH. Living up to the meaning of his name “Intelligent one who uses reason” and “lover of all things”, he was educated in Akron Public Schools early on at Glover and Goodrich where he excelled as a chess champion, and later at Archbishop Hoban High School, where he graduated as a 4-year Varsity Football player in 1996.
Upon graduation from Hoban, Murray attended Robert Morris University in Pennsylvania, where he majored in Mathematics. His athletic accomplishments include 4 SEC Conference championships, as well as being named to the Robert Morris University All-Time Football Team.
Following his time in school, Murray moved to Columbus, OH where he became part owner of MVP Impound & Towing, working for years alongside his younger brother. He eventually expanded to become the owner and operator of his own entrepreneurial venture, MVP Wash & Detail, and pursued his artistic ambitions by flexing his innate musical talents as the CEO of HunitProof Entertainment.
Murray was passionate about many things, but above all, he loved his family. He always had wisdom to share, a joke to crack, and encouragement to give. He was the life of the party and could rarely be caught without a smile on his face. He was a man full of rich experiences that he shared generously with his family and friends.
Murray never hesitated to spring into action where his loved ones were concerned, he truly was a natural born hero. He was devoted to his young nieces in Columbus and will forever be their loving “Uncle Murray”. He was dedicated to pouring into the lives of his younger cousins as well as his friends’ children, often attending their sporting events and other activities. His pure heart allowed him to create unbreakable bonds with the rest of his family that will continue on, long after this pain finally subsides.
Murray was a visionary who sought understanding in every aspect of life. Because of his intellect, he had the ability to engage extemporaneously about any topic and could offer wisdom and enlightenment in any situation. He was a true believer, not only in himself, but in everyone he loved. He was constantly coaching us to be our best as he was always happy to be the man in everyone’s corner. He was undoubtedly more than one in a million, he was one of a kind.
Murray-Akil Wahdu Poole was welcomed into eternal rest on May 21, 2022, by his beloved grandmother and namesake, Maggie Lou (Murray) Poole, the man he emulated; grandfather Lonnie C. Poole, and his eternally cool uncle and father-figure, Gregory Poole, Jr.
Murray was special to everyone, and he will be deeply missed by those who had the honor of knowing him.
He will live on in the hearts of his cherished mother, Vicki Isabell née Poole; father, Russell Seals; stepfather, Jamen Isabell; brothers, Milon Poole and Gyasi Seals; sisters, Yolanda Seals-Coffield, Salihah Seals, Naeemah Seals, and Jill Poole. Murray was truly a family man, and his love and influence will continue to be felt among his “Cousin Crew”, and his tribe of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of extended family and friends who loved him near and far.
“God can mend a broken heart, but He has to have all the pieces.”
