Myleena Rubine Reed, affectionately known as “Boonie”, was born on March 18, 1985 to the proud parents Regina (who preceded her in death) and Anthony Reed, in Warrensville Heights, OH. Myleena was the youngest of four siblings.
From a young age, Myleena displayed a love of life and supporting others. She was a cheerleader for the Muni League for many years, and continued her love for cheering throughout high school. Myleena always found a way to stay positive and bring energy to those that needed it.
Myleena graduated from Chanel High School in 2003. She then left Warrensville Heights, OH to pursue her collegiate education at Eastern Michigan University.
On April 9, 2005, Myleena was initiated into Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, Delta Beta Chapter. She was affectionately known as ACEQUISITE, because she aspired for excellence and exuded class. During her time in the chapter, she served in many roles including Treasurer, Scholarship and Standards Chair, and a Mentor in the Mentor/Mentee Program.
Myleena completed her Bachelor’s degree at Eastern Michigan University (EMU) on December 16, 2007; majoring in Psychology.
After graduation, utilizing her education and experience, fueled by her passion for financial literacy and service to others, she became the founding member of Teen Excellence. Teen Excellence is a nonprofit organization aimed at supporting the high school youth of the Greater Cleveland area. These young scholars aspired to pursue a higher education. Soror Reed proudly served Teen Excellence in the capacity of their Executive Director for 16 years.
Over the years, she participated in various service activities, including Meals on Wheels deliveries, preparing meals for Matrix Human Services, and served in the program lead role for the 4 H mentoring program that targeted at-risk middle school-aged children. She also volunteered with and supported initiatives led by the Wolverine Bar Association (WBA), NAACP Detroit Branch, United Way for Southeastern Michigan , The Greening of Detroit, Centro Multicultural La Familia, Detroit Rescue Mission’s Oasis Soup Kitchen, and Habitat for Humanity.
Myleena had a zest for life. Outside of her professional responsibilities and service endeavors, Myleena stayed active with Sons of Pitches, a kickball team with friends and members of the Divine Nine. She often joined in celebrating the accomplishments of those around her, near or far. Utilizing the freedom of her entrepreneurial endeavors, she was able to travel frequently; exploring new states and countries with the Sorors and friends she cherished the most.
Myleena went on to be with Lord and Savior on March 20, 2024. She leaves to cherish her memories with her father Anthony, sister Andia, brothers Pierre and Antoneo. Her dearest nephews and nieces Anthony, Phillip, Anastasia and Da’Miya along with a host of family, friends, and Sorors.
