Na’Kaya Janee’ Parks, age 17, one month short of her 18th birthday, passed away peacefully on August 2, 2016.
Cherished daughter of Nichol and Eugene Tate, and Michael and Michelle Parks. Beloved sister of Maria Mack, Ma’Kayla Parks, and step-sister of Maria Nichole Mack, Eugenia Tate and Maraunyne Sparks. Dear granddaughter of Mary Linda Parks, great-granddaughter of Gloria Watson. Great niece of LaTonya Parks, great niece of Larry Watson (Gina). Aunt of Brian Pope.

Na’ Kya was a Student of the Cleveland School of the Arts (C.S.A.), since the 3rd grade. She was scheduled to begin her senior year and graduate with the Class of 2017. In her years of study at C.S.A. she developed a love for the Euphonium Baritone and was on the path to Mastering the instrument as unique and beautiful as she herself.

Na’ Kya was a student in the C.S.A. Jazz Band as well as the TRI C Jazz Band. Na’Kya had the honor of performing at the unveiling of the Cleveland Playhouse Square Chandelier. She performed at many Cleveland Cavaliers basketball games during the 2014 – 2015 season.
Na’Kya shared her gift of music with many people as she performed throughout the State of Ohio with the well accomplished All City Band, from the 6th thru the 8th grade. She received private lessons from a Cleveland Institute of Music instructor.

During the summer Na’ Kya had the pleasure of working at the Broadway Christian Church, tutoring kids for the Summer Reading Program. Na’ Kya loved spending time with the kids in the program, and appreciated the experience she gained. When Na’Kya wasn’t playing music or helping children she enjoyed spending quality time with her family and friends. She had a secret passion for writing poetry and songs. She also, enjoyed playing video games and working with technology.
