Nathaniel Moorer was born in Greenville, Alabama to his mom, Jimmie Goshay Moorer, and dad, Roosevelt Moorer.
“Nate”, as he was affectionally known, was the oldest of 11 Siblings: brothers, Robert, Bernard, George, Amos, Roy-Lee, Henry Clay, Henry Clide, and Calvin and sisters, Gladys, Florence, and Edna.
After Nate’s mom, Jimmie, passed away, his grandmother moved him to Cleveland, Ohio where he attended Cleveland Public Schools. At the young age of 20, he met a young lady named Bernice Chappell whom he married, and to this union they were blessed with Nate Jr. After her untimely passing, Nate was introduced to Jessie by Devolia and Johnny Chappell, his dear sister and brother-in-law.
Nate worked for Warner and Swasey Company for several years and proudly worked for Ford Motor Company for over 30 years until his retirement.
Nate accepted the Lord at an early age and continued to serve Him as a Sunday School Teacher, Usher, Trustee, Bass Singer in the choir, and volunteer with the Hot Food Ministry. He was also acknowledged for his faithful visits and dedication at the Singleton Nursing Home. Nate was honored “Man of the Year” twice at Mt. Pleasant Church of God for being the Secretary of the Men Organization for 10 years.
Nate served at Euclid Avenue Church of God and Mt. Pleasant Church of God for over 30 years until he became a member of Northeast Church of God where he served until COVID-19.
Nate was greatly blessed when Northeast Church of God members celebrated his 100th birthday recently in April of 2023.
Nate loved playing horseshoes at family reunions and church picnics. He was the reigning champ during many of the family reunion picnics and also received a trophy at the Mt. Pleasant Church Picnic.
Nate received two plaques from Cory Recreation Center for being an “Excellent Volunteer for Seniors”; he faithfully called the sick and shut-in, friends, and family to minister Words of Encouragement.
Nate loved to attend gospel concerts around the city and enjoyed watching “Tyler Perry’s Meet the Browns”.
Nate was a great family man. He loved to take the family to Euclid Beach, Geauga Lake amusement parks, West Middlesex, PA, Anderson, IN, family reunions in Florida, California, and Birmingham, and youth conventions out of town.
Nate was also a proud grandpa. He was always happy when the grandchildren and great-grandchildren came up from Florida. Nate enjoyed helping the grandkids with homework and life skills, especially finance. He taught his children and grandchildren about saving and investing.
