Nellie Ruth Blakley passed away peacefully on January 7, 2026, at the age of 93. She was born on January 20, 1932, in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the second child born to Charlie and Nellie Taylor.
In 1950, she married the late Fletcher Wilson, Sr., which ended in divorce after giving birth to nine children, Fletcher, Jr., Kevin, Chrysanthemum, Linda, Glenda, Winston, Roosevelt, Lavette and Ella Mae.
In 1963 Nellie Ruth remarried the late Robert Blakley and gave birth to two more children, George and Tarretta Blakley, which completed our BEAUTIFUL FAMILY.
In December 1990 Nellie Ruth retired from Broadview Developmental Center after 29 years of service. During that time, she cared of and supported many children. After retirement, Nellie Ruth returned to the workforce as a school bus monitor for the Cleveland Municipal School District. She was a devoted Mother, daughter, grandmother, great-grandma, aunt and friend. She enjoyed cooking, shopping (I mean shopping down each and every isle and any store – one item always turned into several). She loved spending time with her family, especially around Christmas and yes, for all who knew her she loved the card table and the sound of the slot machines. She will be missed by all who knew her and we will cherish our memories, holding them close to our hearts, until we meet again – PEACE.
