Nelson E. Roberson Sr. was born on March 2, 1951 to the union of Lou Willie & Fannie Roberson (proceeded him in death). He was the fourth of twelve siblings of which three proceeded him in death (Jerry Lynn, Robert Lee, and Cynthia). Nelson was educated in the Cleveland Public School System in Cleveland, Ohio. During his employment years he worked for General Motors until his retirement.
Nelson was united in marriage to Patricia Roberson (proceeded him in death). From this union two sons were born Nelson E. Roberson Jr. (Spanky) and Morice Roberson. Nelson later was reunited in a relationship with Judy Agnew (proceeded him in death). From this relationship his princess as he called her was born, Lori Y. Agnew (Law). In Nelson’s later years, he was untied in marriage to Verna Middlebrooks (proceeded him in death) in which he became a stepfather to Robert, Karen, and Kim Middlebrooks.
Nelson better know to us as “fox”, “blackie”, “brosky”, “grandpa”, “poppy”, “pops” “daddy”, and “grandad”. He was a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather, father in law, brother in law, and friend to many. He was an honest, God fearing, non-complaining, human being, He was also witty, humorous, avid coffee drinker, and he loved eating prime rib steak. He gave his life to Christ in March of 2004 at Allen Chapel MBC where he was a dedicated member that never missed a church service. While in the nursing home, he shared his love for the Lord with everyone he met. Nelson loved family gatherings, playing cards with his brother Willie James, and listening to gospel music. His favorite music artist were The Temptations. Nelson took ill but being the fighter that he was, he bounced back and resumed his life for over 50 years. Nelson gained his wings on August 11,2024 surrounded by his loved ones.
Nelson leaves to mourn his children, Nelson Roberson Jr, Morice (Michele) Roberson, and Lori (Larnell) Law. Robert (Andrea) Middlebrooks, Karen Harrison, and Kim Middlebrooks. Eight siblings Willie James Roberson, Gloria Eppinger, Brenda (Archer) Warren, Joyce (Gary) Jackson, Bertonio (Denise) Roberson, Alphonso (Andrea) Roberson, Alvin Roberson, Calvin (Estella) Roberson. He was blessed with 13 grandchildren, and a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
