Odessa White, 92, of Akron, Ohio, passed away peacefully at home on April 14, 2026, surrounded by her loved ones.
Odessa was born on April 25, 1933, in Bladon Springs, Alabama, to Amy Ezell and Eugene Campbell. She was one of six siblings. In her earlier years, she relocated with her family to Akron, Ohio, where she later built a beautiful life centered around love, faith, and family.
In 1952, Odessa married the love of her life, Chester A. White. Together they shared 69 years of marriage, a union blessed with six children. Odessa was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose presence brought warmth and strength to her family.
She was employed at Goodyear Aerospace, where she worked in electronics and the machine shop, demonstrating dedication and skill throughout her career.
Odessa lived a life defined by strength, faith in God, dedication, family, and love, leaving a positive and lasting impact on all who encountered her presence. In 1985, she became a baptized Jehovah’s Witness and found great joy in serving Jehovah. She thoroughly enjoyed sharing His word through her ministry.
She found happiness in life’s simple and meaningful moments—reading, playing word games like Scrabble, solving crossword puzzles, watching nature, spending winters in Florida, studying her Bible, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her beloved family.
SHE WAS PRECEDED IN DEATH BY
Her beloved husband, Chester A. White; mother, Amy Wims; father, Eugene Campbell; sister, Mabel Rogers-Drake; and her brothers, Eugene (Clara) Ezell and Paul (Dot) Rogers.
SHE LEAVES TO CHERISH HER MEMORY
Her loving children: Althea Lillie (London Stone), Bruce White (Laconia), Vanessa White, Wendi White, Brian White, Connie White-Arnold (Cotious), and bonus son Garence Larkins.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Patricia (Ken), Fazhion (Marvin), Tamika, Kiauna, Chancellor, Brittany (George), Brian Jr., Brandon, TaRodd, TaRonn, and Deshawn; 8 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; sisters, Grace Moore, Daisy R. Hodges, Helen (Eddie) Jackson, and Genevieve (Lee) Smiley; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
