Oliver Blevins, age 66, passed away on March 13, 2023.
Oliver Blevins better known as “Pap Tap” was born November 10, 1956 in Cleveland, Ohio to Oliver and Esther Blevins both of whom precede him in death.
Oliver was baptized at an early age at Baptist Memorial Church in Cleveland, Ohio. He was educated in the Cleveland Public Schools system.
During his teenage years, Oliver loved the soulful sounds of music from the 70’s and 80’s. He was the life of the party as he emulated every move and dance step of James Brown, including the turns and splits. He enjoyed watching Western Cowboy, Michael Myers, and action movies. Oliver had a gracious heart. He loved a good home cooked meal and joking around with family and friends.
Oliver worked a variety of jobs over time to include, janitor, busboy, floor maintenance tech, security guard and U. S Postal worker. He later devoted himself to being a family concierge, driving family and friends wherever they wanted to go. He had a zest for life, living on his own terms despite up and downs, he never gave up. Oliver was an avid card player; spades was his game of choice. He truly adored the company of children so much that he became the family childcare provider. Oliver loved all his family and at times being too over protective of his sisters. Described by others as a nice guy, Oliver was laid back and confident in life. He had a passion for cars, so much so that he gave them names. Oliver cherished life from beginning to end.
March 2023 was a challenging month for Oliver, but he fought a good fight and finished his course. His ambition was courageous. On Monday, March 13, 2023 GOD called Oliver home. He is now reunited with his siblings Shirl Moore and Michael Blevins.
Oliver is survived by his sons Oliver Strozier, Jr (Lashainn) and John Bobby Robinson, Seven grandchildren; Aliyah, Omar, Jade, Myeshia, Jahneice, John, Jr., and Domonic. Five siblings; Tammy (Michael) Smith, Theresa Blevins Odom, Sabrena Blevins, Frances Washington and Toney Blevins. And a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
