Celebrating the Life of Opal Hardaway June 4th, 1943 – May 17th, 2025
Opal Hardaway was born on June 4, 1943, in Hogansville, Georgia. She later made Cleveland, Ohio her home, where she built a life marked by love, resilience, and quiet strength.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Charles and Mozelle Hardaway and was preceded in death by her cherished sisters, Gladys and Louise. Opal attended Central High School in the Cleveland Public Schools system and dedicated much of her professional life as a domestic specialist. She worked with dignity and grace, bringing warmth and light to every home she entered.
Opal was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on May 17, 2025.
She was a woman of strong values and unwavering work ethic, deeply devoted to her family—especially her grandchildren. Her presence was a source of comfort and love to all who knew her. Opal had a deep appreciation for the arts and a lifelong passion for jazz music. Attending live jazz performances brought her immense joy, and her face would light up at the sound of a saxophone or the rhythm of a bass line.
She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and devoted son, Michael Hardaway, and a host of family members and friends whose lives were touched by her kindness, wisdom, and unshakable spirit.
Opal’s journey was one of grace, soul, and quiet strength. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
