Service

Oscar asked that no formal funeral service be held, however, his family is planning a Memorial Service for late October. Family and friends will be notified of the date, time and location.

Oscar will be interned in a plot with his beloved wife at Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland, OH.

Oscar Charles Edwards was born on September 5, 1932. He went home to be with the Lord on September 19, 2020.

He was the beloved husband of Emmie Virginia (nee Montgomery) and son of the late Charlie and Gussie Edwards.

He leaves to mourn his daughters Kim Monique Jackson, María Antoinette Hisey (Ernest Lee, Jr.), Danielle Nicole Edwards and son Micah Steven Mitchell (Diane Palevka).

Oscar was the 6th of 11 children. There were 6 boys- Johnny Paul, Robert Thomas, Ernest Rass, William Clark, David (nephew) and he is survived by his youngest brother Melvin of New York, NY.

There were 5 girls-Rosalee, Margaret, Mattie Ruth, Constance Marie and he is survived by his youngest sister Pauline Saunders of Baltimore, Md.

Oscar has 4 grandchildren: Charles Lloyd Hisey, Colin Hisey, Candace Hisey and Aamina Isabella Woody.
He has 1 great grandchild, Riker Lee Hisey.

Oscar is a veteran of the Korean War. In the army, he earned the Korean Service Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

He was honorably discharged on April 23, 1955.

Beginning in 1958, Oscar worked as a mail handler for the US Postal Service. He retired in 1988.
