Mrs. Pamela (Bell) McMiller, affectionately known as “Miss Pam,” made her peaceful transition from labor to reward after a long illness on March 22, 2026. She was born on August 1, 1947, in Akron, Ohio.
Miss Pam attended Akron Public Schools and graduated from East High School in 1965. In 1966, she married the love of her life, Morace McMiller, Sr., and accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior before the birth of her first child in 1967.
A woman of deep faith and devotion, Miss Pam lifted her voice in praise as a member of various church choirs over the years. She blessed many through songs such as “The Beatitudes,” “Just Look Where I Come From,” and a special duet with her brother, “Long As I Got King Jesus.” She was a dedicated member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Ronald E. Holt. Her commitment to service extended beyond her local church, as she faithfully served for over forty years with the Northern Ohio Baptist District Association and the Akron Sub-District as Assistant Treasurer. She was also a former member of the Akron Wives of Clergy and the Interdenominational Ministers’ Wives.
Miss Pam devoted her early years to being a loving stay-at-home mother, ensuring her children were nurtured and well cared for. In 1987, once her youngest child entered the fifth grade, she began her career with Akron Public Schools as a Child Nutritionist. She faithfully served for 29 years before retiring due to health challenges.
In addition to her work and ministry, Miss Pam was a member of All God’s Children Club of Hartville. She found joy in planting flowers each spring, cooking and preparing meals for family and friends, and sharing her God-given wisdom and encouragement with others. She had a servant’s heart, always ready to meet the needs of those around her—at home, at church, and in the community. A woman of vibrant personality, she was also a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, often joyfully proclaiming, “How ’bout them Cowboys…How ’bout ’em.”
Miss Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Tecumseh W. and Margaret Neal; her beloved husband of 52 years, Rev. Morace McMiller, Sr.; her son, Morace McMiller, Jr.; her brother, Bishop Robert D. Bell, Sr.; and her sister-cousin, Brenda Connelly.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory her loving daughters, Felicia McMiller and Candace (Justin) Hilton; her treasured and only granddaughter, Milan Hilton; her sister-friend of 64 years, Elaine Williams; her devoted prayer warrior, Franchell Riley; her sons “from another mother,” Judge Charles Shinn and Donnell Phipps; her caregiver, Michelle Barnes; and a host of family, friends, and her beloved Mt. Zion Baptist Church family.
