Derrick S Kendrick, Sr., was born on November 29, 1954 in Cleveland, Ohio. He was the second born son of Carl Edward and Mary Kendrick. He transitioned to his heavenly home on Saturday, November 17, 2018.
He was the Senior Pastor of Ravenna Avenue Church of God in Ravenna, Ohio. Pastor Kendrick was licensed as a minister in 1994 and was ordained in 1995 under Pastor Cleaster Fowler. He began his pastorate in May of 1995 and served as Pastor of the congregation for 23 years.
Derrick received his Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology in 1985 and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Management from Malone College in 1989.
He retired from the Real Estate Division of the Ohio Department of Transportation. Derrick was the owner of Kendrick Rental Properties, LLC.
He served many years on the Board of Directors with the National Association of the Church of God in West Middlesex, PA.
Additionally, Derrick served on the Church Relations Committee for Habitat for Humanity of Portage County. He was a member of the Board of Pastors and Church Relations for the Northeast Ohio Church of God. Pastor Kendrick was involved in monthly outreach ministry at the Center of Hope and a weekly drug ministry.
He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 45 years, Paulette; sons, Derrick (Pamela) Kendrick Jr. of Stow, Ohio; David Kendrick of Ravenna, Ohio; Danny (Heather) Kendrick of Tallmadge, Ohio; grandchildren, Arystah, Alaynah and Ayden of Ravenna, Ohio; Caleb and Jada of Tallmadge, Ohio; and Alexis Childs of San Diego, California; mother, Mary Kendrick Charley of Ravenna, Ohio; brothers, Leroy Kendrick and Carl Kendrick, Jr. of Ravenna, Ohio; sisters, Patricia (Cary) Dennison of Ravenna, Ohio, Lila (Damon) Griffin of Akron, Ohio and Pinkie Alves of Phoenix, Arizona; special uncle, Willie Kendrick of Huntsville, Alabama; extended family members, Jenna Logan, Rochelle Williams, Charlene Olapade, Sabrina Childs, Janai O’Neal and a host of other relatives and friends
