With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the life of Patricia Ann Williams, who transitioned into glory on her 73rd birthday, February 25, 2025. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. Her ability to make anyone and everyone feel like family will be remembered by all who knew her.
Born on February 25, 1952, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Mr. Stephen Williams and Ms. Georgia Simon, Patricia was the eldest of eleven children. She attended John Jay High School in Cleveland, where she built lifelong friendships and developed the strong, independent spirit that would define her life.
Patricia was more than a woman of faith and family. She was also a fearless advocate for justice. She was proud to have marched for civil rights in Selma, Alabama, standing alongside Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Reverend Jesse Jackson in the fight for equality. She was determined to always give herself the best life she could, refusing to settle or be treated like a second-class citizen.
Patricia was the beloved wife and soulmate of Andrew Walker and the devoted mother of Stephanie Lorraine Williams and Wayne Rayshon Monroe. She was also a proud and loving grandmother to six grandchildren: La’Rondo Williams, Tatiana Williams, Dominique Swopes, Ashley Johnson, Jeffery Rembert Jr., and Wayne Monroe Jr. Her joy only multiplied as she became a great-grandmother to Christian Williams, Sir’Tahj Thomas, Victor Mitchell, Zion Mitchell, Jaeden Mitchell, Samiyah Stallings, Ava Johnson, Emma Swopes, and Ashton Johnson, and a great-great-grandmother to Xynouri Hill-Williams.
A woman of deep faith, Patricia was a dedicated member of Olivet Institutional Baptist Church in Cleveland, Ohio. Her faith provided her with strength, guidance, and a strong sense of community. She found joy in her nightly Bible study calls, weekly worship, and long phone conversations with loved ones.
Beyond her devotion to faith and family, Patricia embraced life with style, sass, and a sense of adventure. She loved traveling, discovering hidden treasures at yard sales, and always presenting herself with confidence and flair. Keeping her hair done and always having a fabulous set of nails was a must because Patricia believed in showing up for life looking and feeling her best. Whether she was exploring new places, finding the perfect bargain, or turning heads with her impeccable style, Patricia lived life on her own terms with grace, humor, and undeniable class.
Her legacy of family, generosity, love with open arms, devotion to her children and grandchildren, perseverance, faith, and delicious collard greens, dressing, and hot water cornbread will live on in the hearts of those who knew and cherished her. Though we
mourn her absence, we take comfort in knowing her spirit will continue to guide, uplift, and inspire us all.
Patricia is also survived by her loving siblings: Samuel Williams, Valerie Williams, Janice (Nelson) Williams, Tony (Cindy) Simon, Judy (Frank) Richardson, Phillip (Felicia) Simon, Arthur Simon, and Jeanette (Richard) Sanders; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Mr. Stephen Williams; her sister, Barbara (Lewis Monroe) Williams; her brother, Chris Simon; and her beloved niece, Keshia Williams.
A celebration of Patricia’s life will be held on March 6, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Calhoun Funeral Home & Cremation Service, located at 23000 Rockside Road, Bedford Heights, Ohio 44146. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor her memory by extending generosity and kindness to others, just as she did throughout her life.
