Paul Ralph Perry, affectionately called “Butch,” entered this life on July 26, 1950. He was the youngest of eleven children, born to the late James Washington Perry Senior and Rena Bell Scales in Heiberger, Alabama.
Paul attended John Hay High School in Cleveland, Ohio, and graduated in 1968. Upon leaving high school, Paul joined the United States Army, where he served as a corporal, received special recognition for active service, and fulfilled his military duties in Viet Nam.
On December 26, 1969, Paul married Jennifer Ann Cammon at St. John A.M.E. Church. From this union, one child was born, Sesric Lashawn Perry. Life after the military took Paul to Detroit, Michigan, where he worked as an Assembly Line Technician for General Motors. He relocated to Cleveland, Ohio, where he continued to work for the General Motors Corporation at the Parma Plant. Paul retired from General Motors after thirty years of service.
Life after retirement included cooking, reading, and connecting with his family. At some point in his life, Paul accepted Christ and spent time reading and taking notes on God’s Word. Paul was a benevolent and kind-hearted man who was loved and endeared by family and friends. Paul’s humble demeanor, handsome smile, and abundant kindness will always be remembered and truly missed.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: James Washington Junior, Henry Jonathan, Elmer Alfonzo, Arnold Alfred, Arthur Lee; and his sisters: Eleanor Patricia Hamilton and Dolores Billingsley.
