The writing of an obituary. Before I got started I wasn’t sure what to say. Should I list his accomplishments and aspirations. Should I share a memory of him. Or should I just keep it short just to avoid the pain of having to write this.
What can I say? What word or series of words could I use that speaks to the kind of man Perry was? I sat awhile thinking and a number of adjectives popped into my head. But I wasn’t able to put any to paper. I laid down and went to sleep and when I woke up I realized there will never be one word or any series of words that could encapsulate my brother’s greatness.
Perry was the kindest person I ever had the pleasure of knowing. He’d literally give you the shirt off his back and I know people say that all the time, but for Perry it’s true. I’ve seen it with my own eyes. He’d have 20 dollars and he’d give you 15. He saw me for who I am. He saw all of us for who we are.
He saw past this physical realm of existence. He saw past all the cars, all the clothes, all the money. He saw the world for what it was, the bigger picture. The picture I couldn’t see clearly, until Perry made it so. He gave me the confidence to be myself because he was always himself. He wasn’t capable of being any other way.
I never realized how much we understood each other it was almost like we were the same person that’s the only way I could even begin to even our connection and understanding of each other. Perry was my best friend. He was the quintessential uncle, brother, son and friend. Strong enough to carry you to shore if you were drowning and I found myself drowning quite a few times. Having perry as a brother made me a better brother and a better man because perry had his own way of telling me about myself he didn’t support me operating in my lower self as I did so often so he never let me off the hook. I am still here because of him because of his strength, his love, his support, our understanding.
We entered this world together, Perry has gone home, home to our ancestors, home to watch over us, he’s home and one day he will guide us back home.
Perry I will keep our twin flame burning. it won’t ever burn nearly as bright but I will keep it burning for as long as I can.
